How do I update the 'About Us' page content?
Question
I want to alter the text that is used on the 'about us' page of CactuShop. How do I do this?
Answer
The about text is handled differently on v5 and v6.
In v5, it comes from a language string. As with all language strings, you can find the correct one to change by searching for any part of the current text on the 'about us' page - the back end language strings system will find all items containing the text you entered.
Or simply search for the language string name itself:
ContentText_AboutText
Now you can replace with comments about your company.
In v6, there is an extended system that allows you not just to update this particular page, but to add further pages to the system too. In the back end, look for the 'custom pages' link. From here you can see all the custom pages you have set up. You can add new pages, edit pages and delete pages (from edit page).
Note that if you create a new custom page you will manually need to add a link to your skin to reference that, although a link will automatically appear on the site map.
This ability to add extra pages is especially useful for terms and conditions, privacy policy, returns information and other routine text-based pages. If you need to reference images in these custom pages, you would need to enter the appropriate HTML tags and make sure you FTP images to a folder on your web site.
