Orders are blank or the site is acting strangely after I modified my skin template
Question
I have modified the skin template file for my site but now orders come through blank or other strange things seem to happen. I only changed the skin - why has this affected other parts of the store?
Answer
The likely cause is that your editing of the skin template has disturbed the 'form' tags contained within it.
These tags should open and then close. If you edit the skin visually and your software moves these tags, you may find that the order form appears between the form tags of the newsletter signup or search box. This will cause the forms to work incorrectly.
If you view the HTML of the page that is misbehaving and see that form tags are opened twice without a close between them, this is almost certainly what is causing the problems.
To fix the problem, read through your skin template and ensure that form tags surround the newsletter signup and search feature.
