Question

I've received an email from my gateway vendor notifying me that 'Switch' payment cards will completely disappear soon and I must rebrand to 'Maestro' instead. What do I need to do?

Answer

Over the past couple of years, Switch cards have been gradually replaced by the Maestro brand (MasterCard's debit card). MasterCard requires all internet merchants to remove the Switch logo from their websites by 30th June 2007.

CactuShop itself does not come pre-loaded with credit card logos. The only mention of Switch is in the credit cards table (it is turned off by default). This data is only used if you accept credit cards directly on your web site using a server-server payment gateway, or with CEM.

If you use a remote payment gateway, then the card options are controlled by that vendor and you will not need to change anything.

Many stores however do add card logos to their web sites to show the cards they accept via their payment solution. This is often done within the skin itself, or possibly just selected pages - it depends on however you or your developer decided to do it. If you are displaying a Switch logo, you should remove this and replace it with a Maestro logo prior to the end of June 2007, as required by MasterCard.

You can obtain logos from the Maestro web site or with a quick Google search.
